No relation to Whitney Houston, Thelma released this cover of the Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and in February 1977 it made #1 on the Billboard R&B chart. Two months later, it made #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Here in Britain, her version had to compete with the Harold Melvin single. She made #13 while his version made it as far as #5.
